NIF Australia was established in 2011 to promote equality of civil and human rights, social and economic justice, women’s rights, religious pluralism and tolerance, and environmental protection. It has a presence in Melbourne and Sydney, a younger members’ section, NIForum, and a large database of supporters and donors that is continuing to grow.
We are a small organisation, managed by an Executive Director and an active board with members in Sydney and Melbourne.
In Australia we’ve set about changing the communal conversation, to make sure that we’re talking about the real social justice, human rights and shared society challenges Israel faces. We believe that Israeli society is complex and it’s important we engage with all its parts. We’re committed to talking about issues no one else does – whether it’s the plight of asylum seekers in South Tel Aviv, the human rights challenges in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, or a lack of affordable housing for low- and medium-wage earners.
In Israel, we support registered Israeli not-for-profits through the New Israel Fund, which is the leading organisation advancing democracy and equality for all Israelis, widely credited with building civil society from scratch.
NIF Australia is in a new phase of growth and is seeking to expand the community we have successfully built comprising those who support Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.
We don't currently have any open positions.
